NXP has two different holiday schedules - a Standard Holiday Schedule and a Flex Holiday Schedule. Each employee will receive paid time off under one but not both of these schedules. The VP of Global Rewards will determine the applicable holiday schedule(s). Employees should check with their manager or Human Resources representative to determine the applicable holiday schedule in each Flex/Holiday year, as provided below. The following discussion provides the key elements of these schedules.
NXP annually grants employees payment of up to eight hours (for non-exempt1 employees) or pay for one workday (for exempt2 employees) at the employee's regular rate of pay, including any shift premium. The Flex/Holiday year is February 1-January 31. These are the following 9 holidays observed:
When a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it will be observed on either the Friday before or the Monday after the holiday. Part-time employees, interns, coops and students are only eligible for the scheduled holidays that occur during the period they work, and only receive pay for the actual hours they are scheduled to work on these holidays. Non-exempt employees required to work scheduled holiday receive Holiday Premium pay. Please see below under “Holiday Premium Pay” for more information.
When a recognized holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday and is observed by NXP on Friday or Monday, the date of the observance is considered the holiday for pay purposes.
1 Non-exempt - An employee, who is subject to the minimum wage and overtime pay provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, based on his/her job duties.
