It’s like having your own attorney as if on retainer. Similar to the other benefits NXP offers, contributions are made conveniently and easily through payroll deductions.
When you use a MetLife network attorney for covered services, all attorney fees are covered by the legal plan. Advice and consultations on an unlimited number of personal legal matters are also included in MetLife’s legal plans.
MetLife's employee benefits services provide legal counsel for covered services in addition to telephone advice and office consultations on an unlimited number of matters for $16.50 per month for MetLife Legal Plans or $21.50 a month for MetLife Legal Plans Plus Parents. You are allowed to enroll and withdraw your MetLife Legal election during annual enrollment and as a new hire. Outside of those enrollment periods you are not able to adjust your MetLife Legal election.

Please note: Some matters, including employment-related matters, are excluded. Excluded Services are those legal services that are not provided under the Plan. They include the following: (1) employment-related matters, including Company or statutory benefits; (2) matters involving the Company, MetLife® and affiliates, or Plan Attorneys; (3) matters in which there is a conflict of interest between the Employee and spouse or dependents in which case services are excluded for the spouse and dependents, (4) appeals and class actions; (5) farm, business or investment matters, and matters involving property held for investment or rental or issues when the Participant is the landlord; (6) patent, trademark and copyright matters; (7) costs or fines; (8) frivolous or unethical matters and (9) matters for which an attorney-client relationship exists prior to the Participant becoming eligible for Plan benefits.
