FRDM-KW40Z是采用基于Arm® Cortex®-M0+处理器的Kinetis® W系列KW40Z/30Z/20Z (KW40Z)的低成本开发平台，具有集成的2.4 GHz收发器，支持Bluetooth® Smart/Bluetooth® Low Energy v4.1和/或IEEE® 802.15.4-2011标准。

FRDM-KW40Z套件包含两个电路板，支持点到点开箱即用的连接。每个电路板可配置为Freedom开发板或Freedom Shield扩展板。FRDM-KW40Z的硬件规格与Arduino® Rev3引脚布局兼容，提供了丰富的扩展板选项。
