NTAG® 424 DNA / 424 DNA TagTamper – Advanced Security and Privacy for Trusted IoT Applications
NTAG 424 DNA sets a new standard in secure NFC and IoT applications. The new chip generation offers state-of-the-art features for security and privacy protection, on attack-resistant certified silicon. The NTAG 424 DNA is architected to provide AES-128 cryptographic operation, new SUN authentication mechanism upon each read-out by an NFC enabled mobile device, as well as sensitive data protection with crypto-secure access permissions. This enables advanced product and content protection, plus secured and unique user experiences served in real-time.
The NTAG 424 DNA TagTamper tags go further and facilitate even more customized engagements by serving up status-aware, relevant consumer messages once the tag’s seal on a label or container has been broken.
Both the NTAG 424 DNA and 424 DNA TagTamper are sampling now with select customers.

Certified EdgeLock® Assurance
The NTAG 424 DNA and the NTAG 424 DNA TagTamper, part of the Certified EdgeLock Assurance program, are designed to meet industry standards and follows NXP's security-by-design approach. They have been certified by an independent lab.

- NFC interoperability: ISO/IEC 14443-A communication, NFC Forum Type 4 Tag
- 416 bytes memory organized in an ISO/IEC 7816-4 file system: 32 bytes capability container, 256 bytes NDEF file, and a 128 bytes protected data file
- Common Criteria® EAL4 certification for hardware and software
- Standard AES-128 cryptography for authentication/secure messaging, or LRP wrapped AES operation for even stronger attack resistance
- SUN message authentication for advanced data protection within standard NDEF read operation
- 3-pass mutual authentication to access the protected data file
- Protected communication on a contactless air interface
- ECC-based NXP® originality signature and AES-128 based NXP originality check for assurance of tag origin
- Random ID and encrypted UID for enhanced privacy protection
- On-chip assembly of item URLs with flexible ASCII mirrors
- Attack resistant hardware
- Ultra-fast communication (up to 848 Kbits/s), benchmark authentication time
- High input capacitance (50 pF) for compact antenna design
- Tamper loop for once-opened and current-status detection (NTAG 424 DNA TagTamper)
