PCF8523是一款CMOS实时时钟(RTC)和日历，最适合低功耗应用。数据可通过I²C总线以1000 kbit/s的最大数据速率串行传输。提供报警和定时器功能，可在中断针脚上生成唤醒信号。偏移寄存器允许对时钟进行精细调整。PCF8523具有备用电池切换电路，会检测断电情况并在断电发生时自动切换至电池电源。
