Layerscape 1046A Processor Broadband Home Router Application Solutions Kit
The NXP® ASK (Applications Solutions Kit) Software package for the LS1046A processor turns the LS1046A into a mostly autonomous ISO layer 3 packet processing system, offering many NO-CPU-NEEDED ethernet routing and switching fast paths so that the ARM A72 CPUs can be harnessed to make applications that provide differentiation and extra features for your customers.
Autonomous routing of routine traffic through the LS1046A at 20G allows the ARM A72 to focus on revenue producing extra tasks such as running a Voice over IP telephone or IPTV!
The NXP ASK SW Package makes a single chip routing/switching engine possible.

Fast Path Support
- Fast path is the ability to BYPASS the Linux (or other OS) networking software stacks and send a packet from one IO (usually ethernet IO) to another IO. In the NXP fast path, the fast path NOT ONLY avoids layers of SW, but can be nearly 100% hardware. So the NXP fast path can be very fast.
