The IW629 is a highly integrated Wi-Fi 6/6E device enabling tri-band Wi-Fi and dual Bluetooth 5.2 or single Bluetooth 5.3 operation. Supporting a 2x2 MIMO configuration in the 2.4 GHz and 5-6 GHz bands, the system-on-chip (SoC) provides a peak Wi-Fi data rate of 1.2 Gbps and implements advanced features including MU-MIMO, OFDMA, and target wake time (TWT).
With integrated 2.4 GHz and 5-6 GHz TX power amplifiers (PA), RX low noise amplifiers (LNA), TX/RX switches (T/R SW), and a full Bluetooth radio, the IW629 simplifies design, easily enabling a four-antenna design.
The IW629 implements advanced Wi-Fi and Bluetooth co-existence hardware in conjunction with algorithms to optimize collaborative performance. In addition, support for external radio co-existence is provided through an external interface.
The embedded Edgelock® secure subsystem (ELS) supports secure boot with crypto hardware acceleration, key management, firmware authentication, secure life cycle management, and anti-rollback protection.
The IW629 integrates dedicated CPUs and memories for both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth subsystems for real-time, independent-protocol processing. Interfaces to connect the IW629 to external host processors include PCIe for Wi-Fi and USB for the two Bluetooth radios.
