Lisa Ziermann is a Talent Acquisition Specialist at NXP. Based in Austria she supports recruiting efforts focusing on student and graduate recruitment for our European region. Since joining in 2020 she has had direct experience with the growth and spirit of NXP. We sat down with Lisa to talk about her journey.
Lisa Ziermann: NXP encourages its employees to shine. I love that we are all encouraged to be innovative and creative and to do what we are passionate about. This creates great energy and a work environment in which employees can develop and grow themselves. It’s exactly the right spirit for a company that is working on the technologies of the future. NXP really supports employee growth from the start, I have personally experienced this along my journey from starting as an intern to becoming a permanent employee.
I also really enjoy the international environment and diversity of our teams. The company’s focus on diversity, equality and inclusion really sets the tone for a successful collaboration and great atmosphere.
LZ: Bright minds – bright futures.
LZ: The work environment at NXP Austria really embodies the NXP spirit. Here in Austria, we like to start our day with a free coffee, fresh fruits and chat with a colleague in our social room, the heart of our site. We also enjoy our many social activities that are organized by employees, such as our summer parties, Christmas parties and sports events, like a tennis tournament or sledging. Due to our location right next to the river Mur, you can also enjoy the beautiful cycling and running path during your break or before/after work, because we also offer shower facilities.
The work environment isn’t the only reason. This location regularly receives external awards – for example, the Leading Employer Award, which is awarded to the top 1% of employers in Austria or the Family Friendly Employer award, which is awarded by the Austrian federal ministry. Learn more about NXP’s awards and recognition.
We have received these awards based on many great benefits available at this location like flexible working time, home office opportunities, career development support and the opportunity to work with industry experts on cutting-edge technology in an energizing and international work environment. Our roughly 800 employees in Austria are made up of approximately 50 different nationalities and a mix of genders and ages. Many of them are also active participants in our global employee resource groups, which are passionate about different aspects of diversity.
LZ: In terms of technology, the site in Austria focuses on secure contactless identification systems in the areas of automotive and connectivity and security. Our site also hosts NXP’s Competence Center for Cryptography and Security with experts dedicated to security-by-design into the automotive, IoT, Industry 4.0 and mobile domains.
LZ:The Austria site is located in Gratkorn, just outside of Graz, the city with the second highest population in Austria and the capital of the province Styria, with access to a highway, airport proximity and very good public transport connections to Graz. From here, you can enjoy the variety of opportunities Styria has to offer – whether you prefer outdoor activities in the gorgeous alpine mountains or cultural activities and events in the vibrant city of Graz. And you are only a few hours away from many other European countries such as Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, Czech Republic and more! So it is a nice location for weekend trips in Europe.
I experience NXP Austria every day as a great, passionate community and I think the splendid work environment is also reflected by our many success stories of long-term employees, who have often started in our extensive student program and developed into senior employees along the way.
Bright minds. Bright futures. NXP team members create breakthrough technologies that advance our world. The future starts here.
