Our latest design tool focuses on creating low power supply solutions from 2 W up to 25 W. The online tool supports two different application types - an isolated (flyback) converter and a non-isolated (buck) converter.
The tool generates schematic, bill of material and transformer parameters, calculates the design's efficiency, and presents an overview of losses. Also, for a better understanding of the application it can be simulated either online or even locally after downloading the schematics and simulator.
Get startedThis tool is intended as a design aid and will not generate production ready designs. No guarantees are given that the schematics produced are the optimum solution. All component values are typical values, statistical engineering considerations are not taken into account.
Temperatures and PowerActual temperatures depend on board layout, component mounting and environmental aspects (e.g casing, ambient, airflow). The temperatures indicated by the tool are based on simple linear models to give an indication of thermal performance.
Power dissipation calculations are given only for typical input voltages.
CompliancesThe generated schematics apply accepted industry practices for EMC design but are not guaranteed to conform to any compliance standard.
Output powerIn the design tool a fixed forward voltage is used, but in reality the forward voltage varies due to manufacturing spread and operating temperature. The user can adjust the forward voltage of the power supply in the design tool to better anticipate the actual performance.
TransformerThe transformer calculations are based on simple models. For performance critical applications the design tool output can be used as a starting point for the more complex calculations required or for discussion with a credible transformer provider.
