As network operators prepare the infrastructure for 5G by adding the capacity needed for multi-gig speeds, ultra-low latency and much higher spectrum efficiency, there are a number of tradeoffs to consider in terms of cost, complexity and time. To make 5G available in all the places it’s needed – city centers, industrial sites, suburban neighborhoods, rural areas – network operators are focused on densification, which is the process of increasing available capacity by adding more cell sites.
Making the right choices for densification will help create the best possible 5G experience by delivering faster access to information, lower power consumption and longer battery life. Also, knowing how to leverage software-defined architectures will make it easier to deliver new features.
Another consideration for 5G is that it uses higher frequencies, supporting operation in the millimeter wave as well as the sub-6 GHz spectrum. There are compelling reasons to use both parts of the spectrum means exploring options to make 5G easier to deploy, no matter where in the spectrum you plan to operate.
We’ve just started scratching the surface of 5G. Densification is absolutely one of the key things to 5G, and to provide services with massive connectivity, super-fast speed, ultra-low latency and low energy consumption.

The choices we make today will support growth for years to come. A number of compelling use cases will come online soon and, over the longer term, many of the most exciting 5G applications will leverage machine learning.
The technical community has really embraced the challenge of 5G. Everyone – silicon players, the OEMs and ODMs who build equipment, software vendors — takes on difficult problems and solves them really well.
