Creating a sense of belonging across NXP is the ultimate goal of our inclusion efforts. Recruiting, developing, and retaining team members who share this mindset and believe in demonstrating trust and respect – regardless of any perceived differences – is fundamental, which led us to outline aspirational representation goals. A diverse workforce coupled with a climate of inclusion will help us grow and sustain engaged teams and leaders focused on innovating.

When people feel respected and heard, they are more likely to share their ideas and perspectives. This is essential for NXP to stay relevant for the future. With teams spanning cultures and generations, we have a unique opportunity to gain insight into the needs, interests and perspectives that shape our society. Collaboration across teams enhances problem-solving and encourages new and individual ways of thinking. This understanding shapes new product ideas and concepts that lead to the development of new technologies.

One of the many benefits of enabling difference is minimized “group-think.” Homogeneous teams tend to think and act similarly, which can limit new ideas from emerging and prevent unique approaches and solutions to problems from manifesting. Including people from different backgrounds and with different skills can lead to new perspectives, which can spark creativity and enhance problem-solving.
We are igniting a culture of inclusion with development opportunities and through our support of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs). Managers and team members are also encouraged to share their experiences around inclusion at the start of formal meetings.
Our commitment to building a more inclusive future extends beyond our team members. Our global inclusion policy outlines our expectations of every contractor, visitor, customer, partner, and supplier we work with. We do not stop there. We also aspire to recruit team members who value and apply the benefits of inclusive behaviors.

They enable a trusting and thriving environment where team members feel it is okay to take calculated risks, and challenge ideas and decisions. Inclusive leadership is about mentoring and developing talent, creating opportunities, and being open to new and different ideas. Establishing trust happens over time and requires consistency. Leading inclusively further supports building trust and demonstrates characteristics supportive of effective collaboration.
At NXP, we invest in our leadership pipeline with focused programs to build core competencies, amplify our company values, and embrace the principles of inclusive leadership. Our NXP Manager Intensive (NMI) training, Women’s Leadership Program, and NXP Mentoring program are among the initiatives we deliver which incorporate an element of inclusion.

As a multi-national company, NXP operates and does business in a variety of countries where cultures or customs lead to diverse needs and expectations. With such a vast canvas of diversity, inclusive leadership and behaviors become even more important.
