NXP closely collaborates with universities across the world. One way we collaborate is by having some of our best people appointed as part-time professors at universities. NXP has seven part-time professors at the Netherlands’ three technical universities. Cicero Vaucher, specializing in car radar technology, is one of them.
Cicero is a professor for one day a week at the Department of Microelectronics at TU Delft. In that role, he supervises MSc students and PhD candidates on their research projects. As a part-time professor, Cicero can also contribute to shaping the faculty’s whole curriculum to ensure that research topics are addressed that the industry (and NXP in particular) will need in the years ahead.
In his inauguration speech at TU Delft, Cicero discussed his area of expertise, mm-Waves, and more specifically, on integrated front-ends for car radars. His work was a cornerstone of NXP’s current success in that market. He also explained today’s challenges in car radar research: urbanization (pedestrian and cyclist detection), high integration/low cost, Lidar replacement by higher angular resolution and radar cross-interference suppression. TU Delft is helping us to address these challenges, which allows us to maintain our leading position in car radar. Our close relationship with TU Delft will further enhance our thought leadership in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Bright minds. Bright futures. NXP team members create breakthrough technologies that advance our world. The future starts here.
The best companies in ADAS and autonomous driving only want to work with the best partners. For us to be the supplier of choice, we must work with the finest universities and students. To become a trusted partner for universities, we have to collaborate with them closely and build enduring relationships. Universities value these partnerships too, as these allow them to learn about today’s markets demand and what the industry is looking for. It’s also in their interest to direct their scientific research to useful topics that the world needs. Together, we are helping to foster innovations that will shape the future.
We Are NXP embodies, spirit and values of NXP, which is committed to advancing the world by making it safer and more connected. We pursue our ambitions through technological innovations designed to enhance the quality of life of our employees, our communities and the world at large, all the while ensuring sustainability and minimizing our impact on the environment.
