Secure In-Vehicle Communications

The modern car has already gone beyond a simple mode of transportation to a platform for connectivity. The challenges of balancing performance and cost have the new requirement to meet security as the car becomes connected to the rest of the world. This demo will present the technical challenges that are brought to the table by addressing the security concerns when implementing automotive secure communications. The setup will connect an MPC5748G and an i.MX6 via secure CAN communications. Leveraging the SHE firmware on the MPC5748G HSM and Trusted Executing Environment as well as CAAM in i.MX6. CAN messages with be encrypted and signed to be decrypted and authenticated on the receiving end using CMAC and AES-128.
